THE BASTARD by Brenda Novak

This book was really good, the characters leapt out off the page and the plot was very interesting and believable. I love historical romances, so for me, it's a keeper.

Jeannette Boucher is a french lady who escaped France with her family during the revolution and executions in the guillotine. She is to married an english lord, older than her father to save them all from poverty. But on her wedding night she discovers the plans of her husband to conceive a heir. She escapes during the night and meets Lieutenant Crawford, who is the bastard son of a marquise.... And I am not going to tell you more! read it !
